So on Wednesday night I had unprotected sex and he finished inside me, I've been on birth control for about 3 years and take my pill at a regular time so I thought it was fine but Thursday morning I woke up with strep. Yesterday I got antibiotics but I haven't taken them because they will make my birth control ineffective and I'm scared because I've heard sperm can last up to five days in the body. I really don't want to get pregnant but I also really want to take my antibiotics to not be sick anymore. Any ideas on what to do?

May 7, 2016 - 7:51pmYou need to be off the pill for a week or more in order to ovulate. Since you've been taking the pills for so long it is very unlikely for the antibiotics to effect it enough to enable a pregnancy. So take the antibiotics and the birth controls at the same time. Or wait a day or two more to start taking the antibiotics if you are still concerned.
