I want to start birth control pills. I heard the first three months most girls experience break through bleeding. Will this breakthrough bleeding last the whole months? Will I still be able to have sex , or will the break through bleeding get in the way?

Hi Coco1234546

Thanks for your post!

Some women do have spotting, as you said, especially in the first few months- you won't know if you will until you start the birth control pill. Spotting can be a few days a month or more but again, every woman is different so you'll have to wait and see. Spotting is not common after the first few months. Many women don't spot at all.

Spotting will only interrupt sex if you don't want to have it while bleeding slightly.

You will need to take the Pill every day at the same time. Missing pills increases the risk of pregnancy.

You can have a chat with your doctor about what may work best for you. Click here for more information : http://www.empowher.com/menstrual-cycle/content/spotting-pill-5-reasons-may-be-happening
