Does birth control postpone menopause? Mainly the type of birth control that lessens a regular period, like an iud called Mirena.

Hi Anon

Thank you for your question!

Birth control will not affect the onset of menopause. However, due to it's regulatory powers in terms of the menstrual cycle, it may mask it for a longer period of time than if you were off it because it changes the natural rhythm of a woman's menstrual cycle.

But no, it doesn't delay or postpone menopause. That is determined by genetics, certain medical procedures and other factors.
