I have been on birth control for roughly two weeks. I have taken 13 pills thus far. 12 before having sex. My boyfriend and I had sex and still used a condom but after we realized that the condom had broke! We are totally freaking out. I have taken my birth control at the same time every day but I am so scared. Is it still okay to take Plan B just as an extra step? Please help!

Guide

Hi again, lucy1222

Thank you for your message.

Birth control pills will start to protect you from pregnancy after the first week if you take them correctly. Some doctors might recommend using a backup BC method for up to 2 weeks. You can check with your doctor. The choice is up to you whether or not to take ECP. If you do, please read the information that comes with it so you know what to expect.
