What is this? is this going to be menstruation for the month of November? My next due date is 21/22. Am I going to get my period by then? I am kind of freaking out. help please.

Hi I got my period on June 17th and it ended June 22nd. On June 24th my boyfriend and I had sex and the condom broke. I took Next Choice 3 hours after it broke. It is now the 30th and when i went to the bathroom this morning I started to bleed. I took Next Choice one other time and I didnt bleed before my period and I got it on time. I am extremely nervous that this bleeding is not a good sign since im not supposed to get my period for another 2-2 1/2 weeks. Do you think i am pregnant? please help!

Hi! I had sex on June 23 with a condom but it broke. I have never took birth control pills before. My boyfriend fingered out his cum and Idk what's left in me and I know that sperms are microscopic. My recent period started around June 12-13 and ended at June 16-18, I've never bothered to count my cycle and I'm not sure if I have irregular period, I've never really payed attention to it. If I had a period, I'd just deal through the week with a napkin. I took the first Next Choice tablet 24-25 hours later after having sex, June 24 and took the 2nd tablet 12 hours later, June 25(2am). For about 2-4 days I had a headache and a Sore throat, and I was so stressed. My boyfriend and I were worrying so much and are completely loosing our minds here. I really don't want to be pregnant, I am 90% sure that my mom will not support me and abortion would be too much to bare and is too much to afford. I'm only 15, I love kids, but I'm not ready to have one yet.

I am now only having a slight tummy ache and whenever I get up too fast, I get a quick headache and it disappears. My nipples are dark but I've always thought they are in the genetics but now I don't know anymore. It is now June 29 and I have some brown stuff on my underwear and I saw some red drops before I peed. My boyfriend bought me a Pregnancy test(EPT) and I'm not sure when to take it. I've been researching on how to take it, but I'm so confused on these missed period weeks since I don't even know exactly when my next period is.

Hi Anon,

Try to calm down, what you are experiencing is an irregular period caused by Next Choice. Unfortunately, that's one of the side effects of taking the medication. You can take the Pregnancy test after July 10th for accurate results. It is still too soon to take it. When you are ready to test, Open the package and follow the directions-- do this with your first morning pee.

For future reference, if you are not ready for children and are not quite sure how to have protected sex-- use this as a lesson. There is no birth control method out there that guarantees you won't get pregnant-- the only way you'll know for sure that there is no way you can be pregnant is by remaining abstinent until you're ready to have sex.

Best Wishes,

Rosa

Anon,

It could be a side effect from Next Choice (please see my link above) or it can be breakthrough bleeding. Either way, that is not indicative of pregnancy. You will have to wait until your next period is due to test for pregnancy if it's late.

Good Luck,

Rosa

It's ok to be nervous! Just trust that your emergency precautions will work and don't stress out over this!

can the next choice pill make your period come like a week and a half early?

Yes Anon. One of the side effects of next choice is a change in period. Meaning it can come earlier or later than usual.

Hi girls! I just wanted to post to let you know that I was in your situation not too long ago. I am 25 and normally on continuous oral birth control pills to control some hormonal and chemical imbalances in my body. (Let's just say I got the crappy end of the gene pool :) ) Anyway, I ran out of my birth control 3 days before I got my period. After 4 days of having my period it was finished, and my boyfriend and I had protected sex. However, when I reached up to secure the bottom of the condom so he could pull out before ejaculating, I got a the nasty shock of not being able to find it, so I jumped off of him before he could finish. Let me just say, having to pull a condom out of yourself-Not fun in the least. 10 minutes later I took the first Next Choice pill followed by the second exactly 12 hours later. Noticing the levels of hormones in these pills immediately told me that I was going to screw my system up, goodie. About 6 days later, I get heavy bleeding, cramps, back pain, and headaches; all my usual signs of having a period. I actually spoke with my doctor, she said it was very unlikely that I had even ovulated that close after the end of my period, and heavy bleeding, including tissue, like a normal period indicated that the uteran lining was being removed, thus, no pregnancy. Lighter spotting, etc, may indicate that you still are pregnant she said, but a heavier or period-like flow indicates that you are not pregnant. She reccommends that not only should women use a preganancy test if they have light spotting to test for pregnancy, but that all women buy an ovulation test at least once to find out and monitor their fertile days (this does a lot for your peace of mind if it ever happens again, believe me) While you can get pregnant while not ovulating, it is incredibly less likely, so if you know what days you normally ovulate, you can practice even safer sex. Here are some tips that my boyfriend and I can give you : 1.) If unable to get or not yet on birthcontrol, try to use spermicidal condoms. Spermicide kills sperm on contact. We even use these although I am on birth control. It might be 99% effective, but I want to kill off those little guys that make up the other 1% before they can wreak havoc lol 2.) You can use a vaginal spermicide on top of using a condom, but it is recommended by manufacturers to use thicker (meaning not ultra thin condoms) condoms because some spermicides can affect the condom's durability. 3.) Buy lube-condoms can break or tear if they are exposed to a lot of friction. Either educate your partner on foreplay so you have plenty of natural lubrication, or buy some so you don't run into this problem. 4.) Always wash yourself thoroughly after sex, and urinate before and after sex as well. It's been said that washing yourself after sex doesn't do anything to prevent pregnancy and may be a wive's tale, but I prefer the "better be safe than sorry" and it's also good heigene. The urination before, especially in men, will help to cleanze the urethra and can actually kill some sperm when ejaculation occurs (I read this in an online article, so research it yourself before holding me to it) 5.) In case of a slip up, if you don't usually use a spermicide during intercourse, you can insert one if you feel your boyfriend may have ejaculated (even the tiniest bit! remember, it only takes one sperm!). Spermicide inserts even used a few minutes after sex have been shown to kill sperm that might be left in the vagina and around the cervix; this is important because sperm can survive in your body for a few days and can fertilize an egg during this time period. 6.) Take an emergency contraceptive like Plan-B, Next Choice, or another generic and then GET ON BIRTH CONTROL IF YOU PLAN ON HAVING SEX! This is the best advice I can EVER give you. If you think you are mature enough to handle sex and its various consequences, then you are mature enough to make the decision to ask your parents (or if over 17) to go and get some form of birth control. To all you other girls right now that are dancing like me to find out you aren't pregnant, do another gig for me, and I'll do one for you! Hope this info helps, and girls, if you bleed for a few days after taking this pill, you are more than likely not pregnant, so don't stress or you really will freak out when your real period is late because you worried so much! Also, pregnancy and pre-cycle symptoms are so similar in nature, worrying about them won't get you anywhere. We normally don't notice all the symptoms we have on our periods until we're worried about pregnancy, then every little thing is like the end of the world. DON'T WORRY! I know buying a pregnancy test is scary, but believe me, when you find out what the answer is for sure, you'll be much more relieved and you can actually think about your options. Love, Peace, and Chicken Grease Ya'll!
(sorry about the length of the message!)
