Q:

Bleeding during intercourse?

So my boyfriend and I have been having sex like rabbits. Like, twice a day, every day for a good three months. I've noticed for about 2-3 weeks now that every time we have sex, when I go to the restroom afterwards to urinate and wipe, there are pink blood stains. Also, there's a burning sensation when he first puts it in, like towards the opening of my vagina. Could it be we're not lubricated properly? I went to the doctors to get tested for STDs (he was a virgin) and I turned out clean. However, I noticed that when she was taking samples, the q-tip swabs turned out pink, and when I asked, she said I was just raw. Then this morning, I just examined my vagina with a mirror and noticed there's this "tear" or tender spot where my vagina and labia minora connect. Again, is this due to the fact of improper lubrication? We thought that was the case, and tried to use lube two days ago, but I could still feel the burning sensation, like I was "tearing." Could this be from how often we do it? Even though we know I'm raw down there, we still have sex (ughhh hormones and sexual tension). How long do you think we should stop the sex until I "heal"?

Hi Tammy,

There is not a specific time for healing.  You should see your doctor for a follow up and she will be able to know if you are healing.

Hi Tammy,

Welcome to EmpowHER.  If your doctor said you are raw or irritated inside, it's best to stop having intercourse and give it time to heal.  The more friction there is, the more you are irritating the area.  Lubrication should be used after it heals, if you will be having intercourse that often.

Best,

Daisy
