I take YAZ BC everyday but not at the same time (its bad, i know. im trying to get better) but i didn't start taking birth control because of sex. but anyhow, i did recently have sex on February 6th and forgot to take my pill the next day. i did not take the missed pill the next day just the one. i did forget to take another pill on the 9th and did the same. now today (February 11th) I'm having some bleeding i guess you could say but its not red like it normally is and im not suppose to start my period for about another week. is it breakthrough bleeding or what?

Amber8,

It could be breakthrough bleeding since it can happen at any time. If you recently started taking Yaz then this may be the reason for it.

Implantation Bleeding, on the other hand, usually occurs around the same time as your period should be starting and should actually be called "Implantation Spotting" because most of the time, it is just some pink or brown spotting. Not every woman experiences implantation bleeding, in fact, I never experienced it with my either my son or my daughter.

However, because you missed two pills last month and had unprotected sex both times-- you should test for pregnancy if this bleeding seems to stop and your period never comes. So, in about a week if this odd bleeding goes away on its own after only a couple of days then I'd test. If it continues on for the regular duration of a period then it is most likely your period for the month.

Keep us posted.
