Hello-
I am trying to conceive at this time and I am curious on my situation. My periods have been a little off since I took a plan b in December 2014. Since then, I have had a pretty abnormal menstrual cycle. I have had very light periods and they been mostly brown, if anything. I am supposed to get my period between this past Sunday the 12th and tomorrow Wednesday the 15th. Since last Thursday the 9th I have gotten light brown spotting, mostly Thursday and Friday. Saturday was nothing when I would wipe. Sunday I got brown and also some pink spotting, so I put a tampon in as I thought my period was coming. Well Monday and today (Tuesday) I have only been seeing brown when I take out a tampon (not enough to fill the tampon). Is this considered my period or should I be considering this a delayed period, implantation bleeding or something more serious? I was going to wait until the end of the week to either take a test or call my doctor. I am not having any pain. Last week, prior to my brown discharge on Thursday, I have PMS symptoms, major bloating and left pelvic pain.
I am hoping for some insights prior to me call my doctor.

Outside of using emergency contraception, there are some common reasons why a woman may experience brown discharge. Some of which are ovulation, menopause, endometrial bleeding, pregnancy, etc.
With the use of the emergency contraception (Plan B), an abnormal menstrual cycle (including spotting) is one of the side effects.
Is the discharge light brown or a darker brown? Do you have any other symptoms? Like strong unpleasant odor, itching, burning or pain during sexual intercourse.
Also, how often do you use the Plan B pill? Frequent use can cause your menstrual cycle to be irregular and unpredictable.
Rather than wait until the end of the week, get a home pregnancy test today and call your doctor. Maybe you will be able to get an appointment sooner rather than later to get things checked out.

HI Gillette - thanks for getting back to me! I have only used Plan B once and that was in December 2014. Since then I have had periods but they have been much lighter than before Plan B. The discharge on Thursday and Friday was dark brown. Now its more light brown. No itching or burning and I don't recall an unpleasant smell. I have been keeping a calendar of my discharge too and believe to know when I am ovulating from the CM. That happened I think between the 29-31st of March.
