Q:

Can this happen?

I had my period a day earlier and it seemed just fine. It started normal and had egg white mucus in it which I have seen before and it was red. It started becoming lighter and lighter. The next morning I woke up and the flow was way off! It usually heavier on the second day but it is not. When I went to the bathroom early in the morning, I had this large blood clot come out of down there and then when I wiped I had only light blood on the tissue!
What does that mean? Knowing that I have been really stressed out lately. My last period was on the 4th of Nov
Can this be related to pregnancy or something? PLEASE HELP!

Dear Anon,

Thanks for reaching out to EmpowHer.

You are probably not pregnant if you are having your period. It's not unusual to notice some clumps from time to time during your period. These are blood clots that may contain tissue. As the uterus sheds its lining, this tissue leaves the body as a natural part of the menstrual cycle. Try to relax. Let your period run its course. But if you still feel something is off, to ease your mind, call your doctor or visit a planned parenthood.

Best,
Helena
