I've been having an irregular cycle for a while I would get my period almost every 2 weeks...my obgyn had put me on the pill to regulate it...I got my period on December 15th I took the pill for 5 days then missed Saturday and took it again on Sunday. I missed Monday & Tuesday but took it on Wensday, and just gave up on taking the pill completely. I've been having unprotected sex almost everyday with my baby's father. And then I realized I haven had my period yet I'm not sure if it's going to go back to being Irregular or if it's on track or if I'm pregant. HELP WHAT TO DO?!

Hello Anonymous,

Thank you for your question.

If you had not been having frequent unprotected sex, I would say that you are going back to having irregular menstrual cycles.

However, since you are engaging in almost daily unprotected sex, pregnancy is very likely the reason you have missed your period.

Check with your gynecologist. A blood pregnancy test may be necessary.

Regards,
Maryann

I miss my birth control pills three days in a row, and me and my boyfriend had unprotected sex is there a chance I could be pregnant.

Yes, anytime you miss 2 or more pills, especially in-a-row, you have an increased chance of pregnancy. It does not matter what week of active (hormone-containing) pills you are in that you miss; the more pills you miss and the more times you have unprotected sex, the more chances you have to become pregnant.

Sperm can live inside your body for 3-5 days, and forgetting to take pills afterward can theoretically be enough time for your body to begin ovulation. It is not as likely, but there is a possibility.

Did you make up the missed pills as directed?

No I didn't take the three pills I missed. But I took saturdays. I'm currently on the week when I'm suppose to start my period and since I went three days without taking any pills I started spotting on Sunday. It doesn't seem like my period though it a brown color and its kinda light and I'm having mild cramping.

That is good news...sounds like your period is about to begin!
It is very important to make up your missed pills and not just skip taking them; you need to keep a consistent dose of hormones in your body to help protect against pregnancy.

So should I be ok. This all happen last week. Or do I have to wait?

I'm not sure what your question is? Wait for your period, which is about to begin? Yes...

Ok so I guess my question is that I miss my pills last week. And my period is not normal, it light and brown and a little red. So is there still a chance that I got pregnant, or is it just to soon to tell?

If your menstrual period is beginning, it indicates that you are not pregnant. Your period may change since you missed so many pills in-a-row; this is normal and not harmful. Period color can be brown, red, pink or any combination. A period can be different in color, amount, duration...and if it is within what is considered "normal" (a wide range), then you are fine!
