The fact is that you can stop taking any medications you wish, unless you are mandated by law to take them (these are rare cases but can happen - convicted sex offenders/hormone medications are one example). You have free will do to what you wish, in this regard.

However, it's never advisable to stop medications abruptly without talking with your doctor first. While it's likely "safer" to go off HRT than something like an anti-psychotic or heart medication, it's not recommended. Please talk to your doctor first. You can be firm in your decision but it's a far better idea to have a quick chat beforehand.
