Hi,
I would like to copy what Diane said, and tell you that I know this is such a frustrating and emotional time right now, and you are wanting exact information on your specific situation. We can provide general information and guidance, but can not interpret individual lab results with precision as there are many other factors that determine a woman's fertility beyond lab results.

I have read the same information as you regarding your FSH levels and what they could mean since they are considered high, but it is important to talk with your doctor and have him/her explain in detail what these results indicate for YOU specifically, what treatment option(s) you have, what your chances of conception are, etc. There is much information available online, and through discussion groups, that are extremely valuable and validating, but please be wary of sites that claim to be able to interpret lab results for you individually. There are general guidelines, and these are helpful, but I hope you can take this information that your FSH levels may be high based on this one lab result, and talk with your doctor about your specific, unique next steps. Once your doctor confirms/denies lab results, please let us know and we can discuss treatment options that are available. It is great to do your research ahead of time, and we can provide information on Clomid (since you asked).

How communicative is your doctor in interpreting your lab results? Are you able to talk with your doctor openly and honestly, and vice versa?

Hi thankyou for your reply ive been on another forum and ther saying im not menopausal as my ferritin was 9 that mite be due to the hair loss ive also researched the fsh and lh and estrogen levels but still am bit thick as to understand all this i think maybe my ferritin levels are due to the hair los these are my bloods last year july fsh was 9 this year last week ther are as follows....all done on day three

FSH 39.3
follicular phase 3.8-8.8
luteal phase 1.7-5.2
mid cycle 4.5-22.5
menopausal 16.7113.0 now my fsh is bit high but luteal and all other figures seem to be in the normal range also my estrogen seems in normal range wich is <73 here are my lh results wich seem to be in the normal range so why is my fsh higher this is whats confusing me

LH range 11.6
follicular phase 1.2-8.6
luteal phase 1.2-12.9
mid cycle 19.2-103.0
menopausal 10.9-58.6

wich look foward to your rply many thanx :)

Hi, Anon,

I'm so sorry that you're in the middle of fertility testing and that you want so badly to conceive. I know it's a rollercoaster of emotion and it can be very hard to deal with.

To answer one of your questions, pre-menopause and peri-menopause are the same thing. They both mean that you are in the years before menopause (and they can last anywhere from 3 to 10 years; it doesn't necessarily mean it's right around the corner). Yes, perimenopausal women can conceive, depending on their circumstances, though it is definitely a more difficult task.

Here's a page that explains FSH and Day 3 test results:

http://www.advancedfertility.com/day3fsh.htm

Did you also have your LH retested? This page talks about LH levels:

http://www.fertilityplus.org/faq/hormonelevels.html

Are you losing a lot of hair? Or just a little? Hormones do affect our rates of hair growth and hair loss, but it can be due to other factors as well. This is something you need to talk to your family doctor about so you can get to the right cause. Here's an explanation:

http://www.webmd.com/skin-problems-and-treatments/hair-loss/features/women-hair-loss-causes?page=2

Does this information help?
