Can stress cause frequent gas/farting?

I have been stressed lately. The morning i woke up i had a bit of tolerable abdomen pain that came with a fart. When i fart or release gas the pain went away. After the first fart there were more farts but no pain anymore. There was no smell but the succeeding farts were really long with sounds. This never happened to me. It is the first time. Through out the day I had frequent farts but no pain and was not long anymore. Can stress cause this?
