Can a transabdominal ultrasound pick up early pregnancy?

Hi there, I went to my doctor to discuss about my irregular periods and she suggested I get a pelvic ultrasound done. I did not tell her that there is a slight chance I could be pregnant. So then I went in for my pelvic ultrasound, it was trans abdominal. The results came and the doctor said everything was normal, but I'm still a little nervous that maybe I am pregnant and it was too early for the u/s to detect the pregnancy. Can a trans abdominal pelvic u/s detect pregnancy 7-8 weeks pregnancy?
