Can you have your period and be pregnant?

I had sex at the end of my period on January 16, 2012. I didn't bleed anymore after that day. I got my period February 13, 2012 for a few days about 3 to 4 days. Ever since I had my child over 2 years ago my periods have beeen irregular and I don't have them for the full 7 days. I have them for about 4 days and not as heavy. I have not gotten my period this month for March. It is now March 18, 2012 and I have no bleeding. I am breaking out slightly, and have have a short temper, which is what happens when I usually get my period. But I'm late in getting my period. What do you think this means? Please help me I'm so confused.

Thank you for your advice, it is helpful. I have another question for you. I have been having a lot of discharge for about a month now. What do you think could be from? I've been feeling a little more tired then usual also. I have never missed a period before that's why its kind of worrying me because I am now a week late. Thank

Hi vagirl,

Thank you for your question. I don't think you have any concern about pregnancy as you are still having periods although they may be irregular. This is not that uncommon. If you want a piece of mind, take a pregancy test.

Irregular periods are very common in your teenage years and well into your 20s. Stress, changing diets, or even for no reason at all..your menstrual cycle can be weird. I hope this helps calm your nerves. I think you are fine.

Hi Missie,

Thank you for your response. It has helped me. I have another question to ask you. I just found out that the guy I slept with had slepted with another girl about 6 months ago and she had Herpes. I have now found a small non painless pimple like bump on me down there. What do you think this is? And I am now over a week late but I have been for about 3 days now have very light blood in my mucus down there. It only appears when I wipe myself. I still haven't gotten my period and have no cramps or anything. Do you think I'm not getting my period because my body is trying to tell me that I have a disease or Herpes? I tried making a doctor appointment but my doctor is unavailable for another month. I'd really appreciate your advice. Thank you.
