cancer and diabetes

i had thyroid disease since 1974 overactive than under was treated with radiactive liquid than in 1987 colon cancer,than 2007 2nd stage thyroid cancer and 2010 full blown diabetes insulin and pills i am not obese no diabetes in family can't find a doctor to control my diabtes i feel iwas overlooked for pre-diabetes even though i went for blood work for all my conditions i just read an article on this web-site the connection with diabtes and cancer except i got cancer first than diabetes!!!!

There is certainly a connection with thyroid disease and diabetes (I assume you have type 1?) . 

You are right, generally it's people with diabetes that may end up with thyroid disease (about one third of women with diabetes end up with thyroid conditions) but there is also the possibility (however small) that you have had underlying blood sugar issues for years and years and they somehow flew under the radar. 

Are you currently seeing a doctor for your diabetes or for your thyroid?
