Chance of pregnancy and Plan B

This month, I started taking birth control pills, I'm taking Junel Fe (Loestrin). I have taken a few pills late (a few hours-- maybe 2 hours). My fiancé and I always use condoms, we're always super careful. I'm on my inactive week of pills, and I have my withdrawal bleed right now. We had sex and didn't use a condom, but he didn't cM. Within the hour I took a Plan B pill because I had taken a few pills late this pack. Do you think is it likely I'll get pregnant?

Hi, again bm23.

Thanks for your post.

It's not likely as he did not ejaculate inside you, you were on your withdrawal bleeding, and you took emergency contraception, which by the way should only be used in emergency situations. As for birth control pills, they are very effective at preventing pregnancy as long as you take them correctly and routinely.

I understand, the plan b website said it can be used if birth control was not taken correctly and I thought it'd be okay considered I did take a few pills late. I'd rather be as safe as I can be and I know I made a mistake, but I don't think there's much more I can do because I can't get the Paragard. Do you think it decreased my effectiveness as all takes my the pills two hours late?

Hi.

I would check with your doctor or pharmacist about this.

Best,
