Hello Ladies,
My first time on this site so bare with me :). I had the Her Option procedure done on 10/14/2010. I have had 4 children naturally but never had pain like this in my life. The procedure was supposed to be easy. I took my meds to soften my cervix but when my doctor began she quickly realized my uterus was tilted and tried to get the probe in many times while i tried not to scream in pain. It was so painful i couldn't stop shaking! She said she had done them for 5 yrs but never had this problem with a woman that has had 4 children. Once the probe was in (my pain lessened) she decided that she better make sure the ice layer was thick enough to become effective since my uterus was tilted. Afterwards for about 20 mins i felt fine. My doctor told me to get home soon as possible to lay down. Prior to arriving home the pain kicked in and i was actually crying (i don't cry from pain) but this was so intense, like knives in me. This pain went on for days and i haven't been about to walk or move from my bed for over 3 days. When i did finally get out of bed walking was so painful (like charlie horses and knives in my pelvic area). Then to my horror a large piece of gauze fell out of me. The doctor must have forgot to take one out it had been in me for 4 days. When i called her she said that would not cause the pain and to go to the hospital so she could check me. She found no other gauze but I am still concerned. Why do i still have pain and bleeding. My bleeding is bright red and like a period. she said it should stop soon but i wanted to know if anyone else has ever experienced this after has Her Option?
Sorry for the long story :(
Thank You!

Hello 10/2010, I am so sorry to hear your story. Thank goodness you did survive. It is a very big desicion to make. I am much older than you and this was a quaility of life issue with me. But there are risks. I'm sorry you are a statistic. I don't know why your doc would have led you to believe that you had no choice. My doc was very good in reminding me that I may still have periods, which I do, but thankfully they don't make me homebound now.
I think what my doc gave me was progesterne?? After a few months life got nomal. But I did feel sore inside for a few months. <3

Hello Ladies,
August 3, 2012 - 1:02pmI am finally posting an update. I posted the original experience above after my procedure in 10/2010. Well what I have to say is extremely alarming. After the procedure the pain continued off and on and then I began to have other symptoms in my abdomen. Pain, nausea and very loud sounds. I went to my doctor over and over and she said i was fine and only needed rest. She continued to send me back home after my office visits. I ended up collapsing 4 weeks after the procedure at home and my husband had to call 911. I ended up in the ER. I had developed severe sepsis and peritonitis. My dr had punctured through my uterus and into my small bowel which had a small leak for all those weeks. Drs at the hospital were surprised I survived. I needed emergency open surgery to resection my bowel, clean out the infection that consumed my entire abdomen and removed my appendix that had become infected as well. I was hospitalized for well over a week. It has been 2yrs and have since had 2 additional surgeries for painful adhesion's that have developed around my liver from the infection. I am no longer the same person. I have also developed Fibromyalgia and CFS that seemed to be triggered by the infection that consumed my body. I have to take meds for the Fibro pain. I also have bowel problems and will need meds for the rest of my life. I am only in my mid 30's and this procedure has changed my life for the worst. I can no longer exercise, garden and stay active with my children very much because of pain. I have since found out that the procedure was never necessary unlike what my dr had told me. To top it all off I still have my period and if anything its worse now. Please think seriously about the possible complications that can occur and definitely seek the opinion of more then one doctor. I can no longer trust doctors like I used to :(.
Thank you. No I'm still bleeding heavily on day 5, it feels like my ovaries are being smashed and f course I'm still dripping blood. Did they give you birth control to minimize the bleeding? What did they prescribe? Thanks for the update I hope all goes well for me too !

August 3, 2012 - 10:51amI'm 10-21, so it's been a while. In the months after my procedure I needed some meds as I was flowing pretty heavy on my periods. Nope, they didn't go away, lol. After about 4 months things evened out and I have regular, lightish periods now. I would say that healing and getting to 'normal' again took a while. Still worth it to me. Hope you start feeling better soon.
August 2, 2012 - 9:46pmI had the ablation on 6/26/2012, after the procedure I starte bleeding like a period but on the 2nd day it stopped; however, on the third day I started my period and it lasted for seven days....yes seven days it wasn't as bad as my cycle in the past. I experienced cramping and pain during my period when I went to my follow up visit in two weeks (I called the doctor just about every day but spoke with his nurse) I shared my experience with the doctor...he checked my cervix but said he did not see a blood (after my period I spotted for three weeks) he never addressed the pain he said I would see the full results of the procedure in three months. Four days later I decided to go to urgent care due to the side pain and pressure to be informed I had a UTI I was very anger with my OBGYN so I called to speak with him but of course got his nurse. I followed up with my primary care physican after my urgent care visit and yes I had an UTI. I started my period again on 7/30, it seemed to be very light but on the third day (today) it's pretty heavy and I have severe cramping (I've never had cramps before this procedure)....waiting to see what day four brings (8/2/2012). Note: I've always stayed on my period for seven days.
August 1, 2012 - 7:45pmMaybe it's too early to post a comment, but I had the procedure done today, April 5, 2012. Four hours later, I'm doing better than anticipated. I have very little bleeding and no cramping. Immediately after the procedure, I had severe cramping and was given 1 800mg Ibuprofen and approximately 15 minutes later the cramps were gone. I don't know how the coming days will be, but if today is any indication, then they will be good days. So far I'm pain free, feels normal and have very little bleeding.
April 5, 2012 - 12:23pmthank you for these comments i was just given this option by a new GYN female that checked me for 3 min in the office she was a russian doctor, maybe she wasnt use to black woman because all the patients i saw come in were caucasian. i will not have this procedure i already had pelvic pain and its worst than having children
March 17, 2011 - 1:28pmSo 10-14-2010, how are you doing? Feelling better yet? I had mine done on 10-21, so I am almost 3 weeks out. I am still a bit spotty, and feeling better. I've tried to be gentle to myself. At first I was feeling pretty whimpy that I didn't bounce back the day after like some other ladies talk of. Maybe they were in better shape than me to begin with, I dunno. Tonight I was thinking that even though I look fine I basically have a large internal burn that is healing. I'm pretty in touch with my body and feel like I still have a bit of healing to do. And thank goodness the spotting is lightening up. That seems the most annoying :) Hope your on the mend!
November 9, 2010 - 10:22pmI hope you are feeling better. I had cryoabulation on the 21st. My doctor put me out for the procedure. I can't imagine being awake, but I need sedation for dentistry too. But this was normal procedure for my dr. I live 10 min away and by the time I got home I hurt so bad. I took an ibup and 2 vicadon. Cried until the paid eased after about an hour. Then four hours later I felt nausea and couldn't bring myself to take anymore pain meds of any kind. On the 2nd day I layed on the couch for the day and today, the 3rd day I tried to make myself do more and I've started bleeding different from the watery discharge. So I'm going to take it easy for a few more days. Bummer that I don't feel back to normal yet, but I figured I was going to be more sore since I had my luminara app the day before procedure. That app really hurt and I had to take vicadon. I'm hoping the occasional cramping goes away to I feel mobile soon.
