Hi Anonymous,

I really don't know. You could either wait and see what happens or call your physician.

Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to the EmpowHER community and thank you for coming to us with your questions.

Was the spotting dark brown in color, or red?

Since the menstrual cycle is regulated by a delicate hormonal imbalance, any factor that upsets the balance causes an irregularity.

Depending on your age, perimenopause could be the reason. Fluctuations in estrogen levels, which can begin as early as your late 40s, cause menstrual irregularities. Conversely, adolescents in the early years of menstruation will have irregular periods.

Anonymous, if you do not start your period by the end of the week, consider talking with your physician.

Regards,
Maryann
