Q:

Could I be pregnant?

I am 18 years old and on Azurette birth control (have been for about 2 years). My periods have always been slightly irregular within the sugar pill week (sometimes I'd get it a few days before the last week of pills, sometimes on the last day of the pack) I have not had intercourse but this guy and I fooled around and his penis touched my vagina for a brief time. It did not go in and I'm not sure if he had any pre-ejaculation on him. The fact that I have been on antibiotics all month for a sinus infection and now bronchitis is what really throws me since it could de-activate my birth control. I know the risk is like .000000000001 percent, but I have been under much stress and have been losing more and more sleep over other problems and this just adds onto it. I am a senior and going into college next year so I need to figure out my life essentially and that can not include having a child plus there is no planned parenthood near me. I know stress and sleep can throw off my period even more so please help me!

Dear Anon,

Thanks for your post and welcome to EmpowHer. If you didn't have sexual intercourse, even if the tip of his penis briefly touched your vagina, the chances of you being pregnant are slim to none.

It is actually more likely that you have a late or skipped period due to stress. I know it's easier said than done but try to relax and enjoy the fact that you will soon be graduating and a thriving college student! Good Luck
