Q:

Could I be pregnant?

My boyfriend and I got a little intimate about 2 to three weeks ago and I gave him a ha****b while he fingered me.(Finger never went into vagina only around clit and on vagina). (SORRY IF THIS IS GROSS). Anyway, while I tell him to wash his hands before he fingers me and stuff, which he does, I can't get the feeling out of my head that I touched his penis with my other that had pre cm on it and then touched my clit...
I'm so scared that I could be pregnant and I can't stop stressing it. Last month I stressed the exact same and then my period came. My period this month was due yesterday but I can't put my mind at ease.

I haven't really being getting period symptoms and all the discharge has stopped. My breasts are sore and sensitive but that's it really.

We're both only 17 and we're both virgins and we aren't ready for sex and have both agreed if it came to that that we would definitely use contraception.
Is there any chance that I am pregnant? I'm freaking out as I would not be able to handle having a baby at all.

Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER. Indeed stress can cause a delay in the start of your period. If your periods are normally regular, and you do not start your period in the next week, take a home pregnancy test. Test in the morning and use the first urine of the day.

Since you are sexually active, regardless if you have not had vaginal intercourse, you need to start using some type of birth control now. Consider oral contraceptives, an IUD or the Depo-Provera injection.

Any time there is potential contact with semen and the vagina, regardless of how it gets there, there is a risk for pregnancy.

Maryann

Is there any chance that I'm pregnant though? I'm two days late and today I got a sticky white mucus discharge and a few cramps. I'm freaking out so much

Hi Anonymous,

I don't think there is a chance. I think stressing out is the reason for the delay. Again, if you are late by more than one week, take a test. Seeing the result can put your mind at ease.

Thank you so much for your advice! I took a test yesterday and it came up negative, thankfully. My period still hasn't come but I've been getting a few cramps and pains and a bit of discharge. I'm late 4 days.
One more question, the pregnancy test said to pee on it for 5 seconds and I didn't really have to pee so I drank two glasses of water and then peed on it for 2/3 seconds (sorry that this is gross...) would that make the result different? If I took another one tomorrow morning first thing, would my result be different?
Thanks

Hello Anonymous,

There may or may not be a different result.

The reason you test in the morning, as soon as you wake up and use the first urine, is because that urine, which has been in your bladder overnight, is very concentrated.

The test checks for hCG levels. This hormone is produced only during pregnancy. For the most accurate result, you test with concentrated urine.

Drinking water and other fluids through out the day dilutes your urine. That is good, except when you take a pregnancy test.

Marynn

So should I take another test? Because the one I took I had draw k two glasses of water beforehand and it was negative. My boyfriend told me he's sure he didn't touch me with precum but I can't get the idea out of my head that he mightve.

My period is now 5 days late. The later it is the more I stress and I can't help it. Sorry, but I'm just freaking out. Should I take another test or should I just wait? What are the chances that I am pregnant?

Hi Anonymous,

I think stressing out is more likely the reason your period is late. I would not recommend repeating a home pregnancy test until your period is late by at least one week.

I do not think there was a high risk for becoming pregnant.
I want to add, a girl is most likely to conceive if she has unprotected vaginal intercourse five days before and on the day of ovulation.

In your situation, taking another pregnancy test, as soon as you wake up, might put your mind at ease. Or just stop thinking about it and your period might start soon.

Maryann
