Hi JocAlyn,

Thanks for sharing your question with the EmpowHER community!

Taking a birth control consistently helps reduce your rate of pregnancy. It's important to take it at the same time each day for max protection.

When you do miss a birth control pill, it's important to take it as soon as you forget. How long after 5 p.m. did you take you take your birth control pill? Having unprotected sex does increase chances of pregnancy, but if you still took your pill (even a little after 5 p.m.), that reduces pregnancy risk.

The only real way to know if you are pregnant is to take a pregnancy test. Taking that will allow you to truly know if you are pregnant.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

Best,
Erin
