Darkening of Areolas

Hi, I'm 18 years old, I stand 5"1 and I weigh 88 pounds. Recently, I enrolled myself at a gym and have been more active than I normally am (I'm naturally a lazy person) I've always been skinny but I've lost 3 pounds in 1 day. I'm currently recovering from diarrhea. It's almost been a week? Since I started experiencing breast pain but now it's gone, although one thing that caught my attention was the darkening of my areolas. My last period ended August 5, but that came after a period that was 2 weeks apart. I'm still a virgin by the way. Please help me?

Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to the EmpowHER community and thank you reaching out to us with your concern about the sudden darkening of your areolas.

Areola color can appear darker when it's hot because of increased circulation, just like your skin appears redder when the blood vessels dilate near the skin in hot weather.

The increase in your normal level of activity could cause an increase in circulation to that area.
