Do women smell different after menopause?

Do any of you who have gone through menopause think you smell different than you did before? By that I mean the way your body smells to you, not that your nose is working differently. I always thought it was just me that felt this way, but tonight I read an article about someone else who thinks she also smells different now that she's post-menopausal.

My first husband contacted chlamydia in Viet Nam and during our 5 year marriage I constantly had problems with yeast infections and odorous vaginal discharge. I was treated numerous times with prescription pastes inserted in the vagina, but never cured. After divorcing, I found a doctor who told me the yeast bacteria can change over time and embed in the uterine walls so the normal yeast infection products didn't work. He put both me and my new husband on Flagyl pills (I was un my late 20s). It cured the problem.
I've read that Flagyl is also used for bacterial vaginosis which causes vaginal odor. Vaginal odor due to menopause may be the result of the vagina having less lubricant to wash away bacteria build up. I would not recommend douching as douches tend to dry and irritate the vagina. I would recommend asking a doctor for a vaginal lubricant solution or vaginal product containing Flagil (metronidazole) or better yet, Flagil pills. The pills worked great because they killed all bacteria in the uterus as well as the vagina.
As a side note, I an 65, but never had any vaginal odor due to menopause, which I contribute to no sexually transmitted bacteria in my reproductive tract. However, I've discovered coconut oil as a wonderful product for moisturizing the outside of the genital area as well as odor control from normal daily bathroom duties. I also use it as my only deodorant these days. Coconut oil has anti bacteria and anti fungus properties, is easily absorbed by the skin, and has other health benefits.

I think I read somewhere the lack of estrogen causes a chain reaction that affects odor. Thats why being on bioidentical HRT will help. Until seeing a naturopath or hormone specialist re that, u can take domg quai, licorice, red clover or cats claw, which are estrogenic herbs.

I am a 47 year old, single woman and not sexually active. I seriously thought it was only me that was experiencing this odor. I had a hysterectomy 14 years ago but still have one ovary. That ovary gave out a couple years ago and I entered the world of menopause. I still have hot flashes bad enough that sweat drips down my arms but the deodorant seems to handle any odor that causes. I don't use hormone therapy.
I also notice an odor that I never, ever had before menopause. I notice it when I urinate and I'm sure it isn't the urine itself that smells. It really makes you self conscious and isn't really a topic that you'd discuss with just anyone. Showering and washing just makes it go away temporarily. :/

I am a 43 yr. old female. I believe I am in the beginning stages of menopause. I had a hysterectomy 11 yrs ago, leaving one ovary. I haven't needed any hormones as of yet, but thinking it might be an option.
Lately, I have been getting hot flashes quite regularly. In addition to the hot flashes, I have noticed an odor every time I urinate. I shower daily, and haven't had any signs of infection- yeast or UTI. The weird thing about it, is that it smells as if I'm on my period!! Considering I haven't had a menstrual cycle in 11 years, it definitely caught me off guard.
Has anyone else experienced these same symptoms?? I'm really needing some input on this!! It's an embarrassing situation, and something I just don't feel comfortable talking about with my fiance'. Any advice or insight on this would be GREATLY appreciated!!

Dry off well after your shower and with wet fingertips pat baking soda onto your fingers and apply to your armpits. It works! It has worked so much for me that I rarely wear deodorant. When wearing layers and one is a color use deodorant. If just one color use baking soda. It is a natural bacteria killer. That's why an open box in the fridge draws the smells to it!! =D

I am 50 years old. I had my hysterectomy at the age of 25. My cousin and I are both having similar problems. I went as far as buying the Poise thin pads. I have just noticed the odor in the last twelve months or so. My cousin and I have only discussed this between the two of us because we're too embarrassed to discuss it with anyone else. I am constantly cleaning myself up because of the unpleasant odor. Does anyone have any answers? My vaginal has not always smelled this way therefore, I have no understanding for the sudden change. I have however heard that if you eat certain foods for a long periof of time that you may start having the odor of the food such as fish and so on. I don't know how true that is but I'm gasping at straws. I am not sexually active.
