Thank you so much for the information about mirena. I had hysteroscopy and mirena inserted on 3/09/09 due to heavy and continuous bleeding. 6 weeks later I went to see the gynaecology for check up (she insert the mirena) and guess what???!!! she couldn't find it said it must have fallen out. I went for an ab scan couldn't find it, so they did ab X-ray, nothing. I am sure that the mirena is still inside me, and hasn't fallen out. I would have notice it. My gynaecology suggested that i can go on pill or have something else done. I am very confused and disappointed cause I have spent lots of money and i know that the mirena is still inside. would appreciate your comments Nunsy

I had Mirena inserted 12 months ago. Since then I have gained 7 pounds which puts my total post pregnancy weight at 18 pounds over my pre pregnancy weight. I am only 5'2, hence this is a huge deal for me. I eat a low calorie, low carb, high protein diet and exercise at least walk a minimum of 45 minuts per day. I continue to gain weight :-( (mind you - I have NEVER had a weight gain issue in my life prior to the Mirena). I attribute this to the hormones. I am also experiencing frequent mood swings, fatigue and yeast infections. The yeast infections come every time my hubby and I have intimate relations. It is to the point that I don't want him to even touch me because I know it will hurt from the burning and the next day it will be horrible. I requested to have it removed and my Nurse practitioner was arguing with me that these reasons were not sufficient enough to have the IUD removed. I have made another appointment with a real OBGYN and will now demand to have it removed. Perhaps I will try the Para Gard. A few of my girl friends have it and they do not experience any of my symptoms.

Mirena has been making me bleed for over one month. I am getting married and going on my honeymoon in a few days. I am sad and disturbed over my side effects. I was going to get it removed right away but I have read that this does stop the bleeding. I can't win either way. I am so baffled as to what to do. I see no solution to overcome the side effects with or without the mirena which I can expect to experience over the next several months. This is very sad for me because I love my fiance and was hoping for a wonderful honeymoon.

What did your doctor say about your on-going bleeding?

I know you are frustrated, and I hope you are just venting to us...that you are actually able to enjoy your wonderful honeymoon!

Im 28 years old and mother of four. I would love to to have the option to have one more baby in the near future if I win the lottery. I chose mirena because no other method seem to work with my body. Mirena inserted March 2009. I was a dancer at the time and VERY energetic and outgoing. Its seems as though my body was just shutting down for 6 months now. I had to stop dancing in May 2009 because the pains that felt like nightmare cramps and the dizzy spells were too unbearable. I wrote it off as it was just my time to retire ''stripperworld'' of 3 years. I enrolled in cosmetology school and still PAIN. I went to see the NP who put mirena in me. She couldnt feel the strings and schelduled u/s for the next day. Went to ultra sound. NP said ''oh looks like it migrated''. What the hey is that soposed to mean. She also found a 10cm cyst on my left ovary. She schelduled me to come back 3 wks later for another u/s. Gave my script for norco and said good luck. She was hoping the cyst would just dissapear. Went in for the u/s with Dr. He said mirena perforated my uterus and is embedded somewhere. Im schelduled to have surgery on October 13th 2009 the first scary surgery of my life to remove mirena and the monstor cyst.
