Q:

Does 3 days of withdrawal bleeding/menstruation mean she's not pregnant?

We had sex 2 - 3 weeks after her last menstruation and she had them irregularly. She took Nordette as ECP 18 hours after. 6 days after the dose, she bled heavily lasting for 3 days. She also had abdominal pains then and she said it was just like her period. I'm not sure exactly if it is her period or just the withdrawal bleeding.

Was that a sign that she's not pregnant?

Hello Eien,

Yes. This is your normal monthly period. Starting one day earlier and a lighter flow are simply a side effect of the pill. You are okay and your next period should be normal.

Eien, if you are not ready to become pregnant, please consider using some type of birth control regularly. Do not depend on ECP as birth control. Visit a gynecologist. Learn about all available options. Choose the one that will work best for you.

Hi maryann
Hi just want to ask. I had unprotected sex dec 2 and had again dec 5. I took emergency contreceptive pill dec 6 and had my bleeding dec. 12. I took pregnancy test dec 22 and its negative repeat it again on dec 31 and still negative. Jan 5 i did the test again and its still negative does this mean im not pregnant? Im still paranoid though if that is the right time to take pregnancy test. If im doing it correctly.

Thanks for the help

Hello Anonymous,

You are not pregnant. The vaginal bleeding proved that. Three negative home pregnancy tests confirmed that. Absolutely no need for further testing.

Hello Anonymous,

The bleeding should end within the next three days at the most.

If the bleeding continues, please consult your doctor.

Hi Maryann,

My name is Eien, if you can please read my situation from page 1-2 or 3 so I don't have to tell the whole story again. Just wanna follow up.

Don't plan to conceive yet so I'm freaking out. So like in my story I had sex November 21, guy came a little inside me and my LMP was November 8-13. November 23-24 I took nordette following the ecp rules. Had my breakthrough bleeding December 5-8. Questions:

- now I'm feel cramps like I'm about to have my real period and also having thick whitish mucous coming out a lot, am I gonna have my real period soon?
- since I had bleeding back on December 5, am I really safe? Not pregnant?

Please kindly answer my questions as direct as you can.

Thanks.

Also, I'm supposed to have my period this December 9 according to my period tracker but I didn't have it since I have withdrawal bleeding from December 5-8. Thanks

Eien

Hello Eien,

If you go back and read my reply to your previous question, you will have your answers.

Remember, I said the withdrawal bleeding indicated the pill worked to prevent pregnancy and changes to your menstrual cycle were a possible side effect.
