Q:

Does 3 days of withdrawal bleeding/menstruation mean she's not pregnant?

We had sex 2 - 3 weeks after her last menstruation and she had them irregularly. She took Nordette as ECP 18 hours after. 6 days after the dose, she bled heavily lasting for 3 days. She also had abdominal pains then and she said it was just like her period. I'm not sure exactly if it is her period or just the withdrawal bleeding.

Was that a sign that she's not pregnant?

Hi I'm nervous already,I just had unprotected sex with my boyfriend last Aug. 19 , he came a little inside me then I freaked out , I took paracetamol(biogesic?) after 24 hours then I had my withdrawal bleeding the next day(48 hr). Now I have some white blood like I usually have before having menstruation. Am I pregnant or not? Whats the difference between withdrawal and implantation bleeding and when will implantation bleeding happen? I'm just makinh sure because they said withdrawal usually occurs after drinking a ecp or paracetamol and the like. Thank you :)

Hello Anonymous,

Having withdrawal (not a period) bleeding after taking an emergency contraceptive means the pill worked to prevent pregnancy.

Implantation bleeding is spotting, pink or brown in color and occurs about six to 12 days following conception. It goes away on its own and never increases to a flow.

Hope this answers your question.

Hi just wanna ask because im freaking out right now. I took nordette August 1. i follow the procedure correctly had 4 pills 8 pm and 2nd dose 12 hours which was 8 am. after 8 days ive had withdrawal bleeding that lasts 4 days. its been a month since my last bleeding. is there a chance that i am pregnant or is it a side effect of nordette that makes my cycle delayed?

Hello Anonymous,

The bleeding which lasted for four days was withdrawal bleeding and means Nordette was effective in preventing pregnancy.

Changes in the menstrual cycle, such as the next period starting earlier or later than expected, is a side effect of an emergency contraceptive.

However, being late by one month is longer than normally reported.

Have you had unprotected intercourse since the withdrawal bleeding?

You may want to check with your gynecologist or primary care physician about this.

Maryann

I took a ECM 60 hours after unprotected sex. 6 days later I had light vaginal bleeding. My breast were also tender for 5 days. Also had some emotional moments. Just wondering if its breakthrough or withdrawal bleeding? And if it's all normal due to the high number hormones

Hello Anonymous,

Some women do experience tender breasts as a side effect. The bleeding was most likely withdrawal bleeding caused by taking the pill.

Hi..I am on my 2nd pack of pills but i missed 3 dose in a row of the first week then all of a sudden, started bleeding like my normal period. Does that i mean that I am not pregnant even if i missed 3 dose in a row?

Hi, I've had unprotected sex 3days ago and I took an ecp. I took 2 pills after 26 hours after having sex and took another 4 after 12 hours. The day after, I've had a spotting. Just a few drops of blood and a brown qooey substance. Could i get pregnant? I know its just 3 days ago and I'm really nervous. I'm not ready yet

Hello Anonymous,

Spotting after taking an emergency contraceptive is expected and indicates the pills were effective in preventing pregnancy.

Your next monthly period could start earlier or later than expected. The flow might be lighter or heavier than normal. These are side effects that some women experience.
