Does acid reflux cause shortness of breath and like a lump in your throat?

I do not have any burning in the chest or pain but just something in my throat that I can't get up or swallow. Also the shortness of breath has me puzzed. I thought it might be sinus drainage at one time but don't seem to have any other sinus problems. Can you have reflux without the burning and pain? I have been told in the past that I had a small hiatal hernia but it never has given me any problem and I don't hurt now just "gook" in the back of my throat and can't get a deep breath. What do you think might be my problem and should I be taking anteacid, etc. Thanks

Hi Tod

Yes, these can be symptoms of reflux and/or hiatal hernia. We can't diagnose you or recommend medications, though. When you were diagnosed with the HH what did your provider prescribe?

Reflux can become very serious, so if you have symptoms and are not seeing a health care provider about them, I suggest you make an appointment.

Good luck.
