Does anyone have any experience using the HCG Weight Loss plan?

I've just met with my doctor about my weight gain. Last year about this time, I went into menopause. I stopped having my period, stopped sleeping through the night, lost a lot of hair, my skin went dry, I noticed patches of brown spots appearing on my face and hands, I lost my interest in intimacy with my husband, I forgot simple things like "why did I walk into this room again?", I was irritable, and I gained about 20 pounds! It was about this time that I read a book by Suzanne Somers called "Breakthrough: Eight Steps to Wellness." She talked about using bio-identical hormone replacement therapy and in a rhythmic dosage rather than a static dosage. I talked to my doctor about it and she prescribed an estriol cream to be taken vaginally 1-2x per week as needed, and a progesterone cream to be taken for two weeks on and two weeks off. She also prescribed melatonin and 5htp to help me sleep. I'd also read about L-Arginine to help with hot flashes. Those things helped but didn't fully alleviate my symptoms so I kept doing research on menopause and it's symptoms. I found a method of dosage and delivery for bio-identical hormone replacement therapy called The Wiley Protocol and asked my doctor about it. She had JUST heard about it herself. So, we agreed to embark on the adventure of trying it to help me. So far it's worked to alleviate all of my symptoms with the exception of my WEIGHT! ARg.

So, I went through the same steps of research and found a hormone called HCG for weight loss, did my homework and learned that my own doctor prescribes it! Thus, starting tomorrow, I will be injecting myself with this hormone that is only produced by pregnant women. Ironically, two other women in my office are also starting this very weight loss plan this week. I'm just looking for others online who have had experience with this and what they have to say about it.

Yes! It does have the effect to make one more fertile when using HCG! It hasn't been proven with tests persay, but many have said it will increase the odds of having multiples as well. I had just finished a round and got pregnant last March and had twins, however, my father was a twin and genetically I was predisposed to having twins. They are 5 months now, perfect and healthy and my Dr. told me I was a "text book pregnancy".
If you are trying to get pregnant good luck! If anyone is not trying to get pregnant while doing HCG, you should use really good protection while taking the HCG.

Any body here ever heard of self control. Try eating healthy and exercising. Anybody that eats only 500 calories a day is going to loose a lot of weight. Use your brain and your muscles to become healthy. Skinny does not mean healthy, it just means skinny. Muscle and tone is beautiful, skinny and baggy is not so much.

If you are obese with 100 or more pounds to lose, your body has a VERY hard time working the muscles underneath all of the fat. Obviously the ultimate goal is to get to a comfortable weight where one can become more active. The HCG protocol moves quickly, however it gives you time in between each round to do more "active" type things, and once one has dropped 60 lbs of the 100, most find it is easier to do so. I have done HCG and the 500 calories and in no way have "Baggy skin", my skin tones improves as I do it and looks better usually than it does regularly once done with each round. True, you will lose weight on a 500 cal diet, even without the HCG, but the point of the hormone is to help hunger cravings and help you to feel better while losing from your fat reserves.
Bottom line, if you are not obese you do not understand what it feels like to try to get out and move or even simply walk, this is something that can help make something as simple as walking for someone obese happen faster and give people (including me) the opportunity to become more active. This is not an American diet, this was created in Europe, how many fat Europeans are there?
I feel it is not productive to hurt feelings with your opinions and when 90% of Americans are overweight to tell people to simply "have self control, seems a bit cruel". In my case I love food, but in most cases would eat and say screw it because I was already fat and depressed, but I have never been the type of person to sit down ave a whole pizza and a box of twinkies and have always been aware of my weight. Everyone's different and everyone's metabolisms are different. I have tried to make changes in the past, and done many diets ,but this is the only thing, including working out at a smaller size, that helps me keep off the weight and truly for the first time in my life have success. For me it has been life changing, as well as many others.
I am happy working out at a gym and building muscle mass works for you, you are most likely not obese or embarrassed to do so. Fat people get enough discouragment in their lives without comments that are negative. I for one plan on a more active life, I like tennis, walking, roller skating and will have no problem building more muscle mass once I get the bulk of my weight off. Bottom line if you are not obese and have never been over 100lbs overweight, you can preach about self control and what one should do in theory, but you will never truly inderstand what it is to be obese. This site is for HCG dieters, you may find it more productive to talk to like minded people that are not obese on a differtn site. Your opinion has been noted.

Jennifer,
Thanks for keeping us posted, and congratulations on your 20 lbs! As with most weight loss programs, the real success and challenge comes during the "boring" maintenance phase, where you don't have any protocols to follow, no "set in stone" plan or road map... just every day life where you have to maintain your weight loss for 6 months, then 12 months...then years to come. I will be interested in hearing your continued success through the maintenance phase, too! :-)

I have completed stage 3 where I could eat anything except starches and sugars. That was reminiscent of the Adkins Diet, and I was most comfortable with it. I've got one more week on the maintenance (stage 4) phase, but am learning that I need to hover near the no starch no sugar levels because my body doesn't metabolize carbs well. I see immediate weight gain with them.

Another thought. Once you've reached 34lbs or 40 shots you stay on the 500cal diet for 3 days without the shots. The reason for this is it takes some time to get the HCG out of your system, so this step is very important.
Honestly I think this is the hardest part of the protocol, those last 3 days, but it is important to get the remaining HCG out of your body before you start the Atkins portion.
Good luck!
P.s
As of today Sat Jan.30th I am down I am down 20 lbs!

Wow, Jennifer, you've really given a lot of information here. I'm hoping it will help people. I've completed my first round of HCG injections, lost 12 lbs, and only did the 21 day program. I'll be starting my second round in a week, and plan to do the 43 day program (this is a longer protocol so you must take one day a week off of injections so that your body doesn't become immune to it). My goal for this next round is to loose another 20 lbs, but I'll be happy with a 15 lb weight loss. You can go to youtube (http://www.youtube.com/user/shannonblogs?feature=mhw4) and find a huge community of hcgers who are sharing their day to day experiences. That is my support group. Most of us are also on facebook.
