Yes lupus can cause problems with your heart. I have systemic lupus and secondary pulmonary hypertension caused from lupus. I also have right side heart failure from the pulmonary hypertension. I used to have chest pains and it was three years till i was able to get anyone to diagnose me with the pulmonary hypertension.I hope this rare and terminal condition will help you be aware that sometimes a person with lupus like me can have years of remission and suddenly become sick from it like I was. I was never aware that lupus can cause this. Tina

Guide

Hi,
Heart disease is now among the leading causes of death for people with lupus. People with lupus have a higher risk of developing complications affecting the heart, usually from inflammation of the tissue and lining of the heart. Heart attacks and strokes also occur more frequently in people with lupus patients than in the general population.
Thank you for your question.
