Once the sperm has been ejaculated, it enters the vagina. That is the part of the reproductive tract that is referred to.

Hello pippy,
It is the pH of the female reproductive tract that makes sperm swim.
The pH in the male reproductive tract is acidic. According to Polina Lishko, PhD., a researcher at University of California, San Francisco, and lead author of a study published in the February 5, 2010 issue of "Cell", "low pH keeps the sperm immobile. When exposed to an alkaline pH, as they are in the female reproductive tract, sperm start swimming- and they release protons that increase their internal pH level."

Thank you for your question.
