Hello Rajshe,

This is a very good question. Tofu is a good source of protein and pregnant women are encouraged to consume 75 to 100 grams of protein each day (American Pregnancy Association).

I found an article posted on Natural Health @ suite 101 that states, "...the phytoestrogens in soy may also contribute to hormone imbalance. They resemble human hormones enough to fool the body in some ways – but not others. Most soy beans used to make products like tofu and soy milk are genetically modified organisms (GMOs) – a process that introduces unpredictable elements into our food supply. Many soy products are also heavily processed and contain dozens of chemical ingredients."

I suggest that you ask your health care provider if it is safe for you to eat tofu while pregnant and to read the tofu package label carefully.
