How effective is ulipristal acetate if taken on the day of ovulation? I had relationship with a guy and he was wearing a condom. However, i was in doubt that some may have slipped so i took ulipristal acetate few hours later. I checked an ovulation calculator and it says my ovulation is may 1st, when i had sex. First day of my last period was april 15 and march 15 was prior to that. Will the pill still work? Help pls. Thank you

Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER. Thank you for reaching out to us and asking if ulipristal acetate worked to prevent you from becoming pregnant.

I cannot guarantee or offer a guess if it did. Thar is because Ulipristal is an emergency contraceptive that works by stopping or delaying the release of an egg from an ovary. Ulipristal may also make it harder for a fertilized egg to attach to the uterus. You may have ovulated by the time you took the pill even though it was the same day as ovulation was due.

Anonymous, since your partner wore a condom, you were protected.

Regards,
Maryann
