I took plan B after i had unprotected sex. I realized i was on the first day of my fertile week. periods usually are 28 to 27 days. That month i had a 22 days period. I bleed after a week of taking, just spotting, very light pink that lasted two days. I have 2 period apps on my phone, one of them says im 2 days late the other one says my period should be on 4 days. I think one of the apps is telling me in late bc of the 22 days period. I took a blood pregnancy test and it was negative. But im super bloated and i've been feeling nauceos since yesterday. Should i wait 4 days ant test again?

Hello Melinagrax,

Welcome to the EmpowHER community. Thank you for coming to us for advice.

Some women experience changes in their menstrual cycles as a side effect of Plan B. Their next monthly period might start earlier or later than expected. Menstrual flow can be lighter or heavier than normal.

You may be experiencing this side effect.

In relationship to having unprotected sex, when did you have the blood pregnancy test?
Levels of hCG, which is the hormone produced by the cells that form the placenta, can be detected in blood about 11 days following conception.

Have you spoken with your gynecologist? If you do not get a period at all this month, or are concerned, do speak with your doctor.

My period was from May 22 to 29. That was a 22 day cycle. I had sex the 31 and had a blood HCG yesterday and it was negative but the question is. When is my period supposed to start? I know plan b may messed up my cycle but since i had a shorter cycle i want to know when im supposed to get it? Bc i want to know for sure if that blood test is accurate

Hello Melinagrax,

Calculate when your next period is due by starting with the first day of your last period, which was May 22. With a 22 day menstrual cycle, your next period should have started around June 12.

Usually, five days is the maximum number of days that your period can start earlier or later because of the pill.

Melinagrax, your next period should start around June 17.

Regards,
Maryann

Hi Melinagrax,

I would think the results are reliable. Another test would only be necessary if you did not get a period at all this month.
