Energy after complete hysterectomy

I had a lap-hysterectomy (complete) in April with the complication of the doctor cutting into my bladder. My energy level is ZIP. I take 1 mg estrogen daily & use the cream every other day, hoping that it would help with my energy levels. Can you suggest something else I can do. I just went back to work last week & am exhausted every day when I get home (taking later afternoon naps for about 45 mins). Over the weekend I napped for 3 hours on Saturday & was back in bed at 8:30 & slept until 8 Sunday and napped again on Sunday for 1-1/2 hours and in bed at 8:30. I used to have tons of energy but can't seem to get it back. HELP PLEASE!!

I am head of HR for a local restaurant (sit at a desk all day). I am 49 (going to be 50 in October). I do take naps on a daily basis & take vitamins and eat a well-balanced diet. I know surgery takes a major toll on your body, but this is to the point of ridiculous!

I wish you health & thanks for your response.

Sincerely,
Patti

Hi Anonymous,
I think you feel so tired and have a lack of energy because you had major surgery within a 2 month period. You didn't say what type of work you do or your age, but regardless, your body is still recovering. Listen to your body. Rest and take naps, as you have. Eat a healthy well-balanced diet. I share these thoughts because in the last 4 years I have had 5 major surgeries, 2 courses of chemo and 2 courses of radiation to treat brain cancer. Major surgery takes a toll on your body and you need time and rest to back to your previous level of energy. If you are still concerned, contact your doctor to rule out other causes such as anemia or hypothyroidism.
