Excess saliva at night over the past 5 days...is this a possible symptom of something?

I have been feeling slugglish the past few days, but do not have a cold. I have had increased saliva production in the evening...it's strange! I'm curious why I have over salivation. Almost so much that I am not able to fall asleep, because I am swallowing so much.

Should I be concerned?

I never smoked or drink alcohol and I eat healthy. Unfortunately for I had a miscarriage on the 19th of August. I guese the excess saliva during my pregnacy was a bad sign. At the time I did not even like a smell of peppermint so it was difficult for me to even suck a sweet or have a chewing gum. My nausea was getting worse and I could not keep anything down. The excess saliva stopped 2 weeks after I have miscarried. But thank you for the advice.

Hi Bobo,
I am so sorry for your loss, I too have experienced miscarriage. If you need additional support, please let us know. Did your doctor tell you that the excess saliva was a bad sign? I have a pamphlet from my doctor given to me in early pregnancy, and did not see that as a danger sign and indication to call the doctor.
Here is the Mayo Clinic's information on excessive saliva:

Thank you for sharing your experience. It may help someone else to know.

For the past 2 weeks, I have been spitting saliva every 30 seconds. It cannot swallow it because it makes me nauseas. I am 8 weeks pregnant. Should I be concerned?

Swallowing a mouthful of saliva every 10 seconds for several minutes--where does my body get all this liquid? It's somewhat better when I stand up--but that's no way to get to sleep. My stomach feels like there's excess acid in there. Another reason not to want to lie down. Help!

Anon,

Are you the previous Anonymous poster? What medications are you taking, and is excess saliva one of the side effects listed in the information about the drugs?

How long has this been going on, Anon?

It happens every once in a while, happily probably not more than once every two months or so, almost always when I'm lying down trying to get to sleep and my stomach feels upset. Medications? Two cholesterol reducing meds before bed. But no side effects all the other times. It's more stomach (and stress?) related, I think.
