False pregnancy test?

I had a normal period on April 26. Had unprotected sex on May 11, 3 weeks later had a "period"(1 week late) , meaning it wasn't as heavy as before nor did it last as long. Follow to this month, July, I have missed it. It's been 42 days since the last one I had. I took a test and it came up negative, but I've never missed a period since I had my son 9 yrs ago. I plan on making an appt but was just curious if tests could be inaccuarate. Thank you!

Dear Advicehelp08.

Thank you for your post.

Having your period would be proof you are not pregnant as would the negative test result. Your doctor will likely test for pregnancy even so. Other things can cause irregularity in your cycle. Discuss this with your doctor when you see him or her.
