Anon - There are a lot of things that can be done to deal with depression, and it's good that recognize you're facing this. First, I suggest spending some time exploring our depression section to get ideas from the articles and from what other women have said. There are some simple, inexpensive ways you can help yourself such as starting an exercise program, eating nutritious food that supports your mental health, learning relaxation techniques, and more. It just depends on your personal needs and situation.

If you're feeling that your situation is urgent and you're at the end of your rope and need help NOW than I would strongly urge you to call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at
1-800-273-TALK. This is a free service for people who are feeling desperate, alone or hopeless.

The free, 24-hour hotline is available to anyone in suicidal crisis or emotional distress. Your call will be routed to the nearest crisis center to you.

I've not mentioned medications because you said you had stopped them. Going through the withdrawal process can cause the symptoms you're describing and I hope you have support as you go through this. If you are not working with a medical professional it would be worthwhile to see one as they can help you figure out why your medications were no longer helping, how best to go through the withdrawal process and whether there are other medications that could be more helpful. I know that may sound like a lot of work, but it really could help you to get to where you're trying to go.

Let us know how you're doing and please stay in touch. We wish the best for you.
