Hi, I am on trifeme. I had unprotected sex on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday in the start of week 2 of pills. I forgot to take my active pills for Tuesday and Wednesday and then I took 3 to catch up on Thursday. I have now had some breakthrough bleeding but could i still have gotten pregnant in that time?

Guide

Hello, and thank you for sharing your question with the community.  I'd love to give you some helpful information on the subject.

First of all, you need to know the specific instructions for taking Trifeme.  If you miss taking a few pills DO NOT take more than one tablet at a time to catch up.  The doses of hormones in Trireme are very specific and meant to be taken with at least a space of 12 hours between then and in order.

When you miss a few active pills of Trifeme your risks of getting pregnant increases.  But, having bleeding is a good sign that you are not pregnant.  However, if you want to be sure, the best way to find out is to take a pregnancy test.

Since you did take more than one pill to catch up, continue taking the rest of the pills, one each day at the same time each day.

You should also be aware that during your first month of taking the pill, it does not start being effective until you have taken 7 days of active pills in a row without a break.  Before that time, you will need to use condoms. If this was not your first month on the pill however, this information does not relate to your situation.

I hope this has been helpful. Let us know if you have any more questions.
