Gastritis and Alcohol Consumption

This past week I spent two nights in the hospital for stomach pains, which the doctors finally diagnosed as stomach inflammation/ gastritis. It occurred after a heavy day of drinking, and I took ibuprofen later that night.

I'm a college student and drink very heavily... pretty often (average 4 days/week). I have never felt any pain before from drinking. I never suffer from awful hangovers, never puke, etc. Was my condition something that has built up over time, or did it happen solely from the one day of drinking combined with ibuprofen usage?

It has been two days since I left the hospital and I feel almost perfect. I'm taking omeprazole two times per day. However, I'm still very scared to eat foods that I've been told to avoid and to consume alcohol.

I will definitely wait 2 weeks before drinking any alcohol again, but my main question is will I ever be able to drink as heavily as I used to? Sorry for the lack of formality, but basically I'm wondering if I can still get fcked up on a regular basis (though being more careful) without ending up in the hospital again.

Any feedback is much appreciated! Thank you.
