Hi. The first day of my last period was on 10/03. I had unprotected sex on 10/15 and took GLANIQUE 1 on 10/16. Five days after I took the pill, I had a period like bleeding that lasted for 3 days. I have irregular menstrual cycle. Is there a possibility that I am preg or should I jusy wait for my next period. Please help. Thanks

Guide

Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER. Thank you for reaching out to us with your question.

Glanique 1 is an emergency contraceptive, that does not appear to be available in the United States, so I am not familiar with it. I do see that it contains levonorgestrel, which is the main ingredient in most ECP.

Based on that, I would say the bleeding showed that the pill worked and you did not become pregnant. Your next monthly period may start on time, earlier or later. This is a side effect of ECP.

Regards,
Maryann
