HI I WROTE ON HERE A WHILE A GO AND HAD OTHER WOMEN WRITE TO ME ,I HAD BEEN HAVING PAIN IN MY CHEST HAD A A LOT OF TESTS OVER TWO YEARS AGO ALL WERE NORMAL,HAD ECG,ECHO GRAM,RUNNING STRESS TEST,A TEST I DONT KNOW THE NAME OF IT INVOVLED SOME KIND OF MED THAT THEY INJECT IN TO YOU THEN U USE A EXCISE BIKE THEN YOU HAVE YOUR HEART SCANED BY A MACHINE THAT WAS ALSO NORMAL.I AM STILL GETTING PAINS , THEY ARE IN MY CHEST SHOULDERS BETWEEN SHOULDER BLADES , SOME TIMES THE PAINS FELL LIKE THE IN MY BREASTS THE OUT SIDE OF THEM MOSTLY IN LEFT SIDE SOME TIMES IN RIGHT AND CENTER OF CHEST,NOW I HAVE STARTED GETTING PINS AND NEEDLES PAIN IN CHIN AND JAW,I AMKNOW UNDER GASTRO DOCTOR AND HAD A ENOSCOPE ON EXMAS EVE THEY FOUND,OESOPHAGUS,HIATUS HERNIA 3CM AND ITS A SLIDIND ONE ALSO SCHATZKI RING I SUFFER RELUX AS WELL, CAN THIS REALLY BE CAUSING ALL THIS PAIN ,TO DAY PAIN IS BAD IN CENTER OF CHEST AND BETWEEN SHOULDER BLADES I FELL LIKE I GOING MAD AND I KNOW MY DOC THINKS IT I STILL WORRY THIS IS HEART RELATED,IM DUE TO GO IN AND HOSPTIAL THIS IS WHAT THE DOC HAS WROTE THAT I AM HAVING DONE,OGD,UNDER,GA,BRAVO,AND ALSO SOME KIND OF CAPSEL THATS A CAMERA AND IT HAS TO PASS ITS SELF AND I HAVE TO WEAR SOME KIND OF BOX STRAPED TO ME FOR 48 HOURS DONT KNOW OR UNDER STAND WHAT ITS ALL ABOUT CAN SOME ONE HELP MANY THANKS X

Thanks for your question and welcome. Reflux can indeed feel like chest/heart pain; it can be so bad that people end up in the ER thinking they have had a heart attack (this happened to someone I know).
I'm glad you are continuing with testing. I believe the 'box' you are talking about that you have to have strapped to you is called a Holter monitor. This is worn for 24-48 hours and it is worn to test your heart's electrical activity. You'll probably be told to keep a journal of your activities during these hours. After you hand it back, the reports from the monitor will show any abnormal heart beats/rhythms.
The Bravo test is for your GERD/Reflux to understand the extent of it. The OGD (that's the camera/video test you spoke about) and others are also for this purpose - to see what's going on with your stomach and esophageal area. The camera goes down into these areas to look at your system in detail, to see if there are tell tale signs that can help with your treatment.
Your doctor should be giving you information on all these tests to inform you what they are for. If he/she does not have this literature, ask for it to be given to you before you leave. You should always know (and ask) why tests are being given and what they entail.

HI THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR WRITING TO ME ,THE BOX I AM GOING TO HAVE IS SOME THING TO DO WITH THE GASTRIC OP IM HAVING NOT MY HEART,I HAVE GOT TO HAVE SOME SORT OF CAPSELPUT INSIDE OF ME YOU WOULD USALLY BE AWAKE AND SWALLOW THE CAPSEL BUT IM BEING PUT TO SLEEP AS I AM SCARED,THIS CAPSEL TAKES PICSS OF YOUR IN SIDES AND THE BOX HAS SOME THING TO DO WITH THAT I DONT UNDER STAND IT ALL,BUT CAN GASTRIC PROBLEMS CAUSE ALL THIS PAIN AND WHY AM I GETTING PAIN LIKE FELLINGS IN MY JAW AND CHIN I CANT UNDER STAND MANY MANY THANKS CAROLINE X

The box I had assumed was for your heart as a halter (the kind I mentioned) does this kind of 2 day testing.
The Bravo is what you are talking about (for your gastric problems) - this is is an endoscopy. Some people are fully awake while this is done and they find the process to be ok but others prefer to be zoned out. What kind of anesthesia is going to be used? Is it the "twilight sleep", do you know?
This procedure isn't really too bad, I think it sounds worse than it is. But go ahead with a twilight sleep if you wish as that will really calm your nerves (and you may not even be aware of anything at all).
There are always risks with this kind of procedure (mainly a tear pr perforation) but your kind - a gastroscopy, is generally considered very safe.
Your diagnoses can indeed cause a lot of pain and discomfort. With regard to your jaw and chin pain - believe it or not, this can happen with GERD or other gastric issues. The pain from your chest radiates up and around that area, to include the lower part of your face.

February 21, 2011 - 1:53pmthank you thats made me feel better ,i have had the endoscope on xmas eve i just had spray i pulled the scope out i could not breath and it was the worse thing i have ever had.I am being put right out like when you have a op as i am that scared there going tohave a good look and im having that capsel placed in side as i would not be able to swallow it , it passes on its own ,im so glad that you have written to me i worry so much with all these pains .more so with the chest chin and jaw pain because even if i have had all thoes heart tests done i still worry about it being my heart my dad died sunnden no warnings ten years ago age 57 i will try to sell the word ISSIMIC HEART ,if there was any thing wrong with my heart or i had blocked artries would this have shown up on all these tests i have had the last one would have been about three years ago .I am having my cholestrol done this week ,i try to have it done once a year i will let you what it is and also all the findings of my gastric tests i go in hosptial on the 7th april thank you so much x
