Q:

Had (short) unprotected sex, took Next Choice approx. 48 hours after, it's been almost two weeks but no period or bleeding -- pregnant?

We had unprotected sex on June 10th (just two weeks ago), but my boyfriend wasn't in for long because we didn't want an "accident" to happen. A day later, he was worried that there might have been sperm in his precum so we went to get Next Choice and I took it on Tuesday the 12th (1st one at 10:04, the second one at 10:10-ish). Over these past two weeks I have been experiencing nausea and frequent urination (which were worse than normal due to me being on a 12 hr plane ride), and these past few days I have been cramping and my breasts have started to get sore, as if my period is about to come...but so far, no bleeding has occured whatsoever.

I had Next Choice last month as well (5/18 or 5/19) and back then I had the symptoms above & light bleeding and what seemed to be an early period (I am slightly irregular with my cycles but at that point it came earlier than April, the month before). Now that the symptoms are different, I am starting to get even more paranoid than I was before (thanks to the worsened effects). Could I be pregnant or is the stress I'm causing myself be what is holding my period back?

Please let me know as soon as possible!

Hi Anon,

The changes might be due more to the next choice pill.

Best,

Hi Anon,

Welcome to EmpowHER.  If you took next choice as directed, some of the side effects are changes in your next period.  It may be shorter or longer, heavier or lighter.

Here are some resources for you

Does the fact that I was on a plane for a long time have something to do with the lateness of my period? Or should it not be affected by that at all since it's being controlled by the pill?
