My girlfriend and I had unprotected sex two months ago. I pulled out and I doubt there was much pre ejaculatory fluids. She had her period a week after that, although this month she's 5 days late for her period and says she feels bloated and is having headaches. I searched it up and a late period can be caused by taking medication which she was. She was taking medication for a bladder infection for a week about 2 weeks ago. So my question is: is it possible for her to be pregnant even though she had her period after initially having sex but missed her period this month? We're going to get a pregnancy test tomorrow but I'm just worried as of now.

Hello AA99,

Welcome to EmpowHER. I am glad you reached out to us and your girlfriend is planning to take a pregnancy test.

If she had a normal period following unprotected intercourse, and has not had sex since, I doubt pregnancy is the reason for a delayed period. Stress, lifestyle changes such as increased exercising, and illness can cause a delay.

Hopefully you will receive this reply before she tests. For the most accurate result, she must test first thing in the morning when she urinates upon waking up. Also, buy an early response test.

Please keep us updated.
