I can testify that it DOES affect your menstraual cycle to the point where you can still get pregnant and carry full term all the while still bleeding here and there to make you think that you are having a period. By all means I am not a junkie but have been prescribed opiates for several years and even had a baby while they kept me on my script but slowly weaned me down as to not send me into withdrawal or the baby. I did have spot bleeding throughout the pregnancy and didn't even know I was as far along as I was until my Dr asked if I wanted to hear the heartbeat. "Oh sh*t, oh sh*t, oh sh*t" immediately went through my mind as I thought about the babies wellbeing. She is happy and healthy all around and is 2 years old now. Now that I am approaching 40 years old I am trying to completely be off ALL perscribed drugs and look to healthier and natural remedies to help me through the chronic pain but think for my own sanity and the well being of my daughter that I myself want to be clean. Going through the withdrawal process and 4 pregnancy tests later saying I wasn't pregnant I did notice this morning a different kind of menstraul cycle and making an appointment today to have myself checked as there was a white, chunky and stretchy type of mucus mixed with the blood. A piece being as big as half a pinky length. No odor or smell but def scary. Another site said it just means I'm just fertile but at almost 40 I'm a little weary specially after having 3 miscarriages prior to taking opiates and Uteran Cancer. Has anyone ever heard of this? I'm so anxious I want to jump out of my skin.

I have read some comments on here saying that it won't affect your period and after doing all my research on side effects of percocet can tell you that is incorrect. It is listed as a "rare" side affect so yes- it still obviously can if it is listed! I know this thread is old but I'm sure there are people still looking at it as I came upon it yesterday from a Google search and just wanted other females who are having this issue to be correctly informed as I am going through the same thing, been on percocret 5's twice a day for about a month now and my period normally comes like clockwork... I am on the nuvaring and it's been coming the same day for months now, which should have meant that I would have gotten it yesterday but still no sign of a period. Having the correct information helps! Especially when it becomes worrisome.

I took and oxy two-three days before I should have had my period. I've now been waiting over ten days and still haven't gotten it. And I have stomach cramps as well. I think this isn't a rare side effect if most of us are having the same issue

I used to take Oxycodone for my headaches but when I took it for cramps it worsened my menstrual pain. I would be in so much pain which lasted for 4 hours until I vomited. Several times it was so bad that I had to be taken to the hospital via ambulance. I felt like I was going to die. For the life of me I couldn't understand why my cycle was so bad the first day. The docs chalked it up to IBS...but it wasn't. So I stopped using oxycodone 6 years ago and just stuck to Ibuprofen, Advil etv., and didn't have an episode, until I was in the hospital in 2013 for the flu and they gave me an oxycodone for pain, and my cycle came on the same day...I had a really bad episode...the only good thing was that I was already in the hospital. So for me, taking oxycodone is a no-no right before and during my menstrual cycle.

I was without a period for over two years and actually went through menopause. I switched from oxycodone to morphine and my periods have returned. Good luck.

I've been on and off pain meds for my condition for 10 years. Every time I came off the pain meds my period came back. But now I have a pain pump and haven't had a period in about a year. Can you still get pregnant? Or is the side effect of the meds making me not ovulate. This sux

I am having the exact same problem and I am freaking out. I have RSD so I'm on a number of strong pain meds, including oxy. Recently I had spinal implant removed and the incisions got infected so that meant more meds and my period has completely stopped. I went from normal periods to none. My doctor doesn't seem concerned and says it's the meds. I'm thinking I should go to a gynecologist for a second opinion. Did you do this as well or did you trust the pain doctor's opinion and leave well enough alone (because lord knows there are enough other things to worry about)?
I did want to ask too if you find your quality of life better with the pain pump? I'm having horrible internal side effects from all the pills and the doctor wants me to consider it as an option. I don't know anyone with a pain pump to ask. Thanks!

My step mom has a pain pump, she has had it for10 years. Every time it gets refilled she gets really sick. You have to get a new pump every few years. She is looking in to having it removed .
