Q:

Has anyone had "her Option" cryo ablation procedure done for heavy bleeding, pms, cramps. I had it done four days ago and my doctor said to expect a watery discharge for about 3 weeks. I have extremely heavy bleeding and severe cramps. Is this normal?

I had the cryoblation 2 days ago. I was originally going to be have the HTA Thermablation but because my cervix is pretty small (no kids) we switched over. I was a nervouse wreck about any of these procedures because of the stuff I read on the internet. I had already taken the prescribed Xanax and pain meds. They gave me some Torodal (?) at the office. I really had no cramping during or after the procedure. The next day I took a little pain med as a precaution but was up and around dong my everyday stuff. I swear if I didn't have a little discharge I wouldn't have known I had a prodecure done. Everyone's body is different.

I am on my first cycle after the cyroblation. A little more cramping initially but the heavy bleeding has been reduced quite a bit over pre-procedure cycle.

I am about a week late for the second cycle after my procedure. Perhaps it is gone. I will report back on this thread just to share my personal results. Not sure how the anemia is doing but hopefully improving. Felt a little cramping and achiness around the time I should have started but nothing yet.

I had the cryoablation procedure done over a year ago and still dealing with heavy periods and CONSTANT spotting. I am so disappointed. I have to wear a pad EVERY DAY now. Most of the time it's just spotting but some times it's so heavy I can't leave the house. And there is no schedule. It may be days or weeks in between the heavy bleeding. Fortunately the heavy periods don’t last more than a day or 2. My doctor started me on the depo shot 6 months ago and still no changes except that I gained over 15 pounds! I'm not going back for the 3rd shot. I've all kinds of biopsies and such...nothing wrong.
Other than the irregular periods I am in excellent health. I have no idea what causes the spotting/heavy bleeding. After the cryoablation I thought the heavy periods would be done. Especially after taking the depo injections for 6 months. I definitely didn't expect the CONSTANT bleeding. I am open to any procedure/medication and am grasping at straws. I am 48 and do not plan to have any more children. I have been to 3 ob/gyns in the last 2 years and none have been able to help me. I guess I was just hopeful that someone may have had a similar situation and found something successful.
I just don't understand the CONSTANT spotting/bleeding! Reading most of the responses here it doesn't sound like cryoablation is as good as the doctor's say it is.
Is a hysterectomy my only option at this point?

I had the procedure done in December 2011 and so far so good I have heavy bleeding for the first day then it's light after that and last for only 6 days now and no cramping whatsoever. Hoping in the next couple of months it gets to where it's really light or none at all.

Hi.. I had the Her Option procedure done yesterday afternoon May 9, 2012 in my doctor's office and just wanted to share what I experienced and will also do this again at a later date to share if it has been a success or not. I took a Valium one hour before with 20oz of water and had a pain reliver Toradol (sp?) shot 45 minutes prior. My doctor also gave me a cervical block shot right before the procedure. The procedure itself was not bad at all for me, it was tolerable, uncomfortable at times, but not painful. My doctor and the nurses are very personable and put me at ease, which helps. Immediately after the procoedure I experienced cramping, and very intense cramps in my lower spine, (in my tailbone to be exact) which felt very similar to back labor or like the feeling that I had to go to the bathroom but could not. This really worried me, as it was so similar to labor but did not escalate to that level of pain. I could still walk. However the cramps were patially alleviated with a perscribed pain medicine, Naproxen (sp) and my husband drove me home and I slept for a few hours. I had some light bleeding mixed with watery discharge and spent the remainder of the evening in bed. I started to feel better last night with a little cramping but most of it has subsided. I was surprised to wake up feeling absolutely fine! with no cramping and am getting a little bit of watery discharge. I will post again after my next few periods as I think it is helpful to share my experience with other women in the same boat. Of course not everyone has the same experience, but we women can help one another and I know I feel better when I read posts from actual women instead of the manufacturer's website.

I'm curious to know how you are doing after 3 months.

Do not be afraid of the procedure. I was after reading posts on this site, however, it did not hurt. I was a bit nauseous on the ride home but I am resting now and it was no big deal at all. Slightly uncomfortable during the procedure due solely to pressure not pain. I'm on pain meds now for cramps but fairly comfortable. No major discharge yet. Hoping for the best. Will keep you posted. Email me at hbomb69 if you want to ask questions.
