I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia about five years ago and have had very little relief since. I have seen numerous Drs and all say that this is Fibro. I hurt all the time and very little seems to help. Does anyone out there know what to do?

Hi, I have had fibro for at least 12 years. If your not getting relief go to another dr. I ran into the same issues. There is such a stigma about pain meds ( because of abusers, damn them). I now take percocet, fentynal patches, trazadone, flexeral, lexapro. It took 8 yrs to get this far and that is bullshit. I take my meds religiously the right amount, and maybe my body is addicted, but I only take them as prescribed. I can finally get out of my bed and worked for 14 yrs @ 40 hrs or more per week. People need to understand, if your taking them long enough, there is NO high involved just so relief for coping. Massage also helps short term. I pray to god everyday to left me live the last half of my life pain free. I would also take advice. Remember, dont give up on yourself, because you have to fight hard through all the prescription pain med addiction stories. I have never had to ask for my meds early because I took too many. I am very depressed sometimes, but I pray they will find a cure. Keep hope & faith.

Hi, StephB,

I'm really happy you came back to update us, but I'm sad to hear what a rough road it has been these last couple of years, especially dealing with both your health problems and your husband's. It's a blessing that his cancer is in remission, and my fingers are crossed that he'll get the job that will lead you to both a better financial situation AND perhaps to better health care.

What city and state do you live in, Steph? I would be glad to research options for you if you think that would be helpful.

I'v been diagnosed w/ fibromyalgia, but I don't believe in medication for it- how can they treat something if they don't know what the cause is? I have found that doing yoga helps alot- there are days where we're lucky we can move but doing yoga will improve that. I hope all is well.

Hi everyone. Oh my gosh, I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia back in the
early 1980's when it was still called fibrositis. Have been treated for it since then. I have been tested for lupus as well as ms and a number
of other diseases. My laundry list of other illnesses is just too
much to go into in one post.
My fibromyalgia has gotten worse over the years, has anyone else experienced worsening of the actual fibromyalgia/trigger points.
Also, are there any people who have many more trigger points than
the classic ones on all the charts? I have trigger points where
no one has heard of. This is a very painful condition. From
what I understand it is recognized by Social Security Disability now.

I was diagnosed with fibro in 2010, after going thru test after test to figure out what was wrong. It is the most painful thing I have ever dealt with in my life. I also have osteo arthritis to go along with it. I had to quit my job in 2013. I filed the first round of disability that year but of course it was denied. Then I hire an attorney to file an appeal and after two years of waiting I had my hearing and was denied. I had the worst attorney you could ever imagine and he did nothing for me or my case. According to him I had the "worst" judge they have ever had and my attorney was terrified of her so he never defended me one single time. She was not interested in me or my case. I am now trying to find an appeals attorney that will file my appeal with the appeals council. This is really frustrating because I live in constant pain 'and it's hard for me to do anything other than lay on my side all day. I cry every day of my life and I see nothing changing at all. If anyone has any suggestions about an attorney who would file with the appeals counsil please let me know. Thanks

Dear Anonymous I was diagnosed 2012. What gets me is no one wants to try to understand what you're going through. The pain is always there. I am having issues in my neck now, pain is going up into the back of my head, going up into my temple and then right above my eye. I am afraid because I am on so much medicine I shouldn't have any pain whatsoever. I have had some kind of change I have started having bad headaches with this pain. It scares me is there something else going on. Gotta go to the doc. Where are you located? I have the best lawyer. I got my disability the first time. I got about 3 years of back pay. I also was signed up for Medicare. This lawyer is in Georgia. Are you anywhere around north Georgia? Let me know and I'll send you her information.

I too, was diagnosed in the 80's! AND< YES it seems to be getting worse just in the past 5 years! My Doctor & I can trace this all the way back to my childhood, so it is a possibility that we were born with this!
You can get Disability for Fibro, just get a Lawyer first!!!!

I was FINALLY diagnosed with Fibromyalgia 15 years ago. I know now that I have had it longer. I have a lot of other conditions with it: Chronic Fatigue, Srojens (autoimmune), Restless Legs, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, poor short term memory, Arthritis and Insomnia. I also have Migraines, Vulvodynia, Esophageal Reflux, Hypertension and had a total Hysterectomy 24 years ago at age 31. Over the years I have become worse; at 55 I feel worn-out. I am now applying for SS Disability because I lost my 5th job of 6 (in 3 years) because of the combined symptoms. I am hearing about Thyroid therapy. Would that be a smart direction to pursue for help? THANKS!
