I've been taking birth control for about a year & 1/2, and my period has always been consistent usually right before my sugar pill week or right at the beginning. This month i missed a pill in week 1 and took it the next day, & also twice in week 2 and took them immediately. I just finished my whole pack and should be starting my new one today, but i haven't had a period. I have unprotected sex with my fiancé so I wasn't sure if I could be pregnant or is my period just super late. Also, I didn't know if I should wait to start my new pack when I have my period. Thanks for the help!

Hi Anon,

Yes, start your new pack of pills. I would also call your doctor and discuss with him or her that you are 7 days late. I would also take another test, preferably a non-generic name brand. You can also have your doctor do a blood test to make sure that you aren't pregnant.

Did this help?

Hi Anon,

Thank you for visiting the EmpowHER community and for sharing your question. I am sure that you are feeling worried at this point. Are you 7 days late?

The effectiveness or side effects of birth control pills can be altered by taking them late or by not taking them at the same time each day. Since you missed your pills this month and even though you took them as soon as you could and had unprotected sex, there's a chance you could be pregnant.

I would take a home pregnancy test and check to see if you are pregnant.

Anon, did this help?

Best,

Kristin

Yes i am on day 7 right now. I should be starting my new pack of BC today but I wasn't sure if I should wait until I started or took a test. I never have missed one before but I took a test (a super cheap one) & it was negative. I don't know if I took it too early or maybe I'm just super late! But yes I am worried at this point. I will take a test asap to be safe. But should I start my new pack?
