I had lost 100 lbs at age 43 then regained 50 lbs after my hysterectomy. I gained it in 6 years time. I eat the same way, and i exercise but not as much as i used to due to foot surgery that did not help my foot problem. I do not take HRT"s and i don't have hot flashes or night sweats. What can i do to lose weight. I have put my name on a list to get the lapband because i'm at the end of my rope trying. I weigh 237 lbs and am 5 feet 4 inches tall. I bike alot in the summer and swim.

Hi Anon,

I can certainly see why you are frustrated with the inability to lose weight post-hysterectomy. Unfortunately, every single woman's body reacts differently to a hysterectomy-- did you have your ovaries removed?
Just like there may be a woman who loses weight after a hysterectomy, there are two more that gain it. Keep in mind that sometimes hysterectomies bring on Menopause and the weight gain may be coming from the surgically-induced Menopause, than from the hysterectomy itself.
