Hi jessica,

You are not pregnant because you had a period. You would only be pregnant if you had unprotected intercourse since your last period.

If it would help you to feel better you can buy a home pregnancy test just to be sure that you are not pregnant. I understand how you are feeling sad and lonely after the break up, especially after having sex with him when you were still a virgin. Maybe it could help you to get together with a girl friend and just hang out or go shopping or do something that you like to do but stopped doing while you were with your boyfriend. Whatever you do, in my opinion is better then not doing anything because then you will think about him. So get up, wash your face, get dressed and go out. Good luck. You are going to be fine.

Hello jessica Simpson,

Welcome to the EmpowHER community. I am glad you reached out to us. I am sorry to hear about your breakup. It can be a difficult time and the stress can have an impact on your menstrual cycle.

Based on the general definition of virginity, if you had vaginal intercourse, oral or anal sex, then you are no longer a virgin.

Since you had a period after having sex, you did not become pregnant. If you have not had unprotected sex since then, you are not pregnant now.

Regards,
Maryann

Hi jessica,

There is no need to be scared. You got a period after that sexual activity and that proved you did not become pregnant. Stressing over this will only cause a further delay.

Maryann
